Mexican Actor Gael Garcia Bernal denounced President Trump’s plan to build a border wall between the United States and Mexico Sunday night at the Oscars in one of the many politicized speeches of the night.
Claiming “A lot of actors are migrant workers. We travel all over the world, we construct stories, we build life but cannot be divided” and stating he was against any form of wall that “wants to separate us”. This year’s Oscars were the least watched they’ve ever been since 2008, coming in at 32.9 million according to Reuters.
As Liberal activists riot in the streets and actors preach from atop their ivory $5 million dollar mansion for an open border globalist agenda, they have many allies within the Democratic party, but this was not always so.
Many current sitting Democrats once championed the opposite cause, even President Obama.
In 2006, then Senator Obama praised a bill on the senate floor, stating “The bill before us will certainly do some good.”, it would “provide better fences and better security along our borders to help stem some of the tide of illegal immigration in this country.” That bill was the Secure Fence Act of 2006, which authorized a barrier along the southern border. This was passed into law with the support of 26 Democratic senators including prominent party leaders like failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, and Chuck Schumer.
In this video in 2005, Senator Obama claimed Democrats “all agreed on the need to better secure the border, and punish employers who hire illegal immigrants.” and that anyone entering the country illegally are “disrespecting the rule of law. ”
In this video during Bill Clinton’s 1995 State Of The Union Address, he expresses the need for a border wall, barring welfare to immigrants, and speeding up deportations stating “We are a nation of immigrants, but we are a nation of laws.” He received a standing ovation for this speech.
As you’ve noticed, the language used is eerily similar to that of President Trump’s. Were their ideas racist back then? The short answer is: No. Border security wasn’t racist then, and it isn’t racist now.
It is simply the Left’s tactic to label him as such, even when they’ve agreed with Trump not too long ago.
