If you recall, Wikileaks during the 2016 presidential election released a cache of emails belonging to Clinton Staffer John Podesta. You can also recall some of these emails showed then CNN Contributor and DNC interim chair Donna Brazile sharing questions ahead of debates to the Hillary Clinton campaign, to give her the edge over rival Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
Brazile was fired from her CNN contributor position after the controversy came to light, but remained as the DNC interm chair after Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned in disgrace, until Tom Perez took over in the DNC election in February.
She initially denied colluding with Hillary Clinton once the emails were released in early October, issuing a statement:
“As a longtime political activist with deep ties to our party, I supported all of our candidates for president. I often shared my thoughts with each and every campaign, and any suggestions that indicate otherwise are simply untrue. As it pertains to the CNN Debates, I never had access to questions and would never have shared them with the candidates if I did.”
After a Presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly and Brazile had a heated back and forth over the controversy, where Brazile ineffectively dodged and even claimed persecution:
“As a Christian woman, I understand persecution, but I will not stand here and be persecuted because your information is totally false.”
Jesse Watters from Fox News’ Watters World confronted Donna Brazile on camera to ask about these emails, and she claimed they were lies again:
Finally, months later, Donna Brazile has admitted what the world already knew.
Her admission? Cloaked ten paragraphs into her essay in TIME, titled: “Russian DNC Narrative Played Out Exactly As They Hoped”:
Here, Brazile admits to collusion and tries justifying it all in one. Were any of the questions ever sent to Bernie Sanders like she claims? Were any questions sent to Clinton during her debates with President Trump? Was anything else given to Clinton to give her an unfair competitive advantage? I guess we’ll never know.
